Exhibition identity, wayfinding

We crafted a bold and dynamic visual identity and wayfinding system for the German Design Council’s one&twenty exhibition at Milan Design Week 2024. The concept grew directly from the spatial design, starting with the floor plan and the distinctive shapes of the inflatable installations. This deep integration led to a cohesive environment where vibrant graphics and intuitive navigation work together to guide visitors through a seamless, playful experience. The visual language merges clarity with softness, echoing the architecture while supporting its rhythm. By combining expressive typographic elements with a signage system that feels both legible and light, we shaped a spatial narrative that energizes the historic Brera district while honoring the Council’s legacy of innovation. The identity doesn’t sit on the space, it grows from it, resulting in a unified atmosphere that balances experimentation with a grounded sense of place.

Wayfinding wasn’t treated as a separate system. It was designed as part of the spatial experience. Lettering was placed directly on walls, doors, and floors, creating an intuitive flow without relying on traditional signage. Each typographic element was positioned to support movement while reinforcing the identity’s softness and immersive tone—guiding through atmosphere as much as information.

Set within Milan’s historic Brera district, the exhibition identity establishes a dialogue between permanence and ephemerality. Rather than echo the architecture, it responds with softness and air, a contemporary visual language that stands out without dissonance and invites the city into a different spatial rhythm.
